Whitall, Tatum & Company ~ Phenix model #200
This is a wonderful scale in great condition. No extreme wear on either pan, strings are fine and the scale works great. The box is in rough shape on the inside, missing 2 partitions that seemed to have broken out. I feel that the condition of the scale well makes up for the box damage. The weight set are Troemner nickel grain weights (10 of them) with original box. The scale beam is 6 inches overall and has a hanging height of 9 inches. The string is green. The box has outside dimensions of 6 3/4 " long x 3 1/2" wide x 1" high. $95 includes shipping in the US.

Very Large Balance Scale
A great find and recent acquisition. A large (19" high x 21" wide) apothecary scale. Ivory plate ahs weight graduations. A neat part about this old scale is that it still has the gram weight on the beam. (a little to the left of center in the picture) $245 o/bo |

Reliable egg scale The scale has a capacity of 16 and 32 ounces. If is in fine working shape and is precise. The wooden base is cut out (note on the bottom) to fit an egg crate. In 1936 this scale sold for $1.50 (thank you Bill and Jan Berning for info listed on page 59 of your book). $190 price includes shipping in the US |
John White & Sons Scottish "harp top" Scale
This scale has seen hardly ANY use. I know this because the knife edges are very sharp, the plate crest (see insert) is barely worn and the overall condition of the scale is perfect. The porcelain plate has NO crazing. The only thing that this scale has is a tiny bit of corrosion in 3 places on the right pan which you can see in the picture. The scale is calibrated and balances very well. mechanisms work very smooth and slow. Almost like watching an expensive clock wind down as the scale finds equilibrium. $650 FIRM (ok..its one of those I dont care to sell but have another in mind if I do.) |
